Yoga Mat Recommendation

“What brand of yoga mat do you recommend?”

This question comes up a lot and my answer is always the same: Manduka Pro!

Manduka Pro

This mat is 6mm thick so it looks and feels very solid and sturdy. This is the one I use for daily practice and when I teach class in the studio. The light purple one you see in my photos is a Pro.

Maduka eKO Series

These are thinner versions of the Manduka Pro Series. I use mine for travel and outdoor practice (not shown in photos).

Another great feature of the Manduka Mats is that they are very grippy so my hands don’t slip as much. Doing downward-facing dog on this mat makes a world of difference if you struggle with slippery hands (try out my mat after class sometime if you’d like!).

When you first unroll it, the mat does have a filmy protective layer on it so you have to break it in a bit to get that grip you’re looking for. The best way to do that is by using it daily or by sprinkling sea salt on it, letting it sit for 24 hours and then gently scrubbing it off with a bit of water and a hand towel.

To keep your mat clean they also have various mat washes but I just use water with a splash of either vinegar, dish soap, or essential oils.

I also appreciate that this company tries to ethically and sustainably source all of their products. And they have a lifetime guarantee!

I hope this was helpful information in deciding which yoga mat will help support your practice. There are a lot of good options out there! If you plan on using your mat for a long time it’s worth the investment for one that suits you.
